SouthseaMama (Southsea)

Hi there, I am Helene in Southsea, looking to re-motivate myself to read more and to make new social connections. I am happy to meet up during the day if this appeals to anyone, as I am retired, and could also host if that helps.

Abi (Basingstoke)

In my mid 20's and trying to be more social and expand my reading to both fiction and non fiction, keen to meet new people and talk all things books. Currently diving to get into romantasy but i am a massive Agatha Christie fan (I love a whodunnit) and open to all genres and tropes.

Abi recommends:

This Is How You Lose the Time War
by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone | Learn more and buy
It is different to my usual reads but i love it especially considering for how short it is it packs a punch that i absolutely loved. The love story woven across time, place and worlds is created with so much care and charm that i love chasing and being chased with Blue and Red.

Lauren (Winchester)

I'm an avid reader who loves getting lost in the worlds of fantasy, romance, romantasy, and thrillers—but I'm always open to giving most books a try! I'm looking to connect with like-minded people who enjoy a relaxed book club setting, where we can share our thoughts over a cuppa or a glass of wine without the pressure of intense discussions. For me, reading is all about enjoyment, great stories, and good company!

Aaron (Basingstoke)

Huge bibliophile, mainly reading a lot of fantasy and sci-fi at the moment, but my collection and taste spans from classics, magical realism, dystopian and everything in between. Just wanting to get a feel for whether there's any book groups near/in Basingstoke and what genres seem to be popular.

FranklyStein (Basingstoke)

A lifelong book lover with a passion for historical fiction, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. I enjoy immersive storytelling, rich world-building, and thought-provoking narratives that stay with you long after the last page. Some of my all-time favorites include The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, and Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Always looking to connect with like-minded readers who love deep discussions, new book recommendations, and the occasional debate over the best (or worst) adaptations. Let’s talk books!

FranklyStein recommends:

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Pillars of the Earth

Pillars of the Earth is an epic blend of history, drama, and ambition, featuring rich medieval detail, complex characters, and a gripping story of power, betrayal, and the relentless pursuit of a grand vision.
