Nina1980 (Gosport)

I work full time from home. I used to be an avid reader but I barely pick up a book from year to year now. I need an excuse to get reading again and a deadline to read to. I would like to read again, meet new people and get out of the house more. I'm happy to read anything.

Lauren (Winchester)

I'm an avid reader who loves getting lost in the worlds of fantasy, romance, romantasy, and thrillers—but I'm always open to giving most books a try! I'm looking to connect with like-minded people who enjoy a relaxed book club setting, where we can share our thoughts over a cuppa or a glass of wine without the pressure of intense discussions. For me, reading is all about enjoyment, great stories, and good company!

Aaron (Basingstoke)

Huge bibliophile, mainly reading a lot of fantasy and sci-fi at the moment, but my collection and taste spans from classics, magical realism, dystopian and everything in between. Just wanting to get a feel for whether there's any book groups near/in Basingstoke and what genres seem to be popular.

FranklyStein (Basingstoke)

A lifelong book lover with a passion for historical fiction, horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. I enjoy immersive storytelling, rich world-building, and thought-provoking narratives that stay with you long after the last page. Some of my all-time favorites include The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, and Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin. Always looking to connect with like-minded readers who love deep discussions, new book recommendations, and the occasional debate over the best (or worst) adaptations. Let’s talk books!

FranklyStein recommends:

Mark in Hook (Hook)

I like fiction and non- fiction, poetry, literature and drama. I tutor English literature and language but try to push myself to read new authors and genres as well as my favourites. These include Hilary Mantel, John Irving and Steinbeck, Benjamin Myers, WG Sebald, Sickens, Auden, Armitage...in fact any writer that writes well. Currently on the reading pile is Francis Spurford, Michael Igniateff and right now, bought today, John Lewis Stempel's , ' England, a natural history. ' I'd like to share my enthusiasm for places visited and explore new places with readers of whatever interest and persuasion. I work in local Government building social housing, follow politics and current affairs and have a sizeable library in my garden office, acquired when the pandemic changed our working life routines for ever.

Mark in Hook recommends:

A very personal and articulate insight into a lost generation of Rissians from the 19th and 20th century, full of larger than life characters who were real, impressive and ultimately sad in their demise
