Austin (Winchester)

I look for books that give the words to experiences that I fail to. I used to almost exclusively read nonfiction on mathematics and computing, but now I almost exclusively read fiction. I would like to make friends to read and talk with :)

Austin recommends:

There Are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak

All throughout beautifully written, and an incredibly bittersweet ending. I love this book, and I treasure rivers now.
White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky
White Nights
by Fyodor Dostoevsky | Buy this book
Puts into words and onto paper the common, but isolating, experience of unrequited love. I think everyone can recognise pieces of themselves in this book

Steph (Southampton)

I love reading, mostly books that I feel I can relate to, I.e life as an adult in your late 20s, romance, life choices etc. I love Laura Jane Williams and Dolly Alderton books but I’m open to other authors too! I also love reading about women in history! I’d like to be a part of a book club or just find a coffee shop we can sit in, read and share books. Let me know if you are interested.

Steph recommends:

Confessions of a Forty Something F**k up by Alexandra Potter

You will get so invested in the main character and it will make you feel a mixture of emotions.

Sophie (Havant)

I live in waterlooville. I love reading fantasy, supernatural, and romantasy. However, I would like to join a bookclub to discuss with others, as my friends are squares who don't read such books.

Sophie recommends:

The great gatsby
by F. Scot Fitzgerald | Buy this book
I know I stated I love fantasy, but this is my favourite book. The symbolism and Gatsby's ability to dream and hold onto it until the very end was beautiful, and I loved how the book made me fall in love with characters only to have my heart broken.

I'm 34. I mainly read personal development, philosophy and psychology books. I am deeply fascinated with humans psyche and I love learning everyday! That's why I mainly read non fiction books but I also like reading something different sometimes and I am curious to everything!! I simply want to meet new people to discuss and share points of views and ideas in my area. Or if there is any bookclub around Lymington, Bournemouth or Southampton, I'm in

I like Sci-Fi (Red-Rising), Fantasy (Terry Pratchett, obviously LOTR), well-written History, and some autobiographies, but I can generally get into any book as long as it is written well!

Hey, I am a big reader, I read everyday as part of my routine and looking for a book club, a group of people where we can read the same book and talk about it. It's so hard reading a great book and not having anyone to talk about it with.

KJG (Winchester)

Hello, I’m thinking about joining a book group as would like to discover new authors and read books I would not usually consider reading. I would enjoy connecting with people who share my interest in reading. I believe a reading group has many benefits as discussing books will help to keep my brain engaged, which may have cognitive benefits! I would enjoy contributing and listening to the viewpoints of others.
