Eyes.seeu (Chorley)

Hi everyone, I'm excited to join this book club! I recently moved to Chorley, so I'm looking forward to meeting new people and making friends here. I'm a huge fan of romantic erotic suspense thrillers, with "Haunting Adeline" and "The Ritual" being some of my favorites. I'm always on the lookout for new recommendations in this genre and would love to hear your suggestions. Looking forward to our discussions and getting to know all of you!

Safia (Accrington)

I enjoy reading classics, magical fantasy, sci-fi books, and modern literature. I would like to join a book club to engage with other book enthusiasts and explore different perspectives on the themes and topics. For me, joining a book club is a great way to connect with people who share my interest for reading, and to discover new books that I might not have encountered on my own. I look forward to the having discussions and the sense of community that a book club has.

Alice Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

I like how it is a nonsensical book that invites the reader to engage in the imaginative world of Wonderland through wordplay and unconventional characters. The timeless appeal of the story lies in its ability to transport readers into a fantastical realm where anything is possible.

Gatz895 (Blackburn)

Keen reader but time starved. Open to exploring new and different literature from a variety of genres. Favourites include: classics, historical fiction, short stories and art books. It would be great to find a group to discuss books with (my last group transitioned to becoming entirely online). Please share if you’ve managed to find a good book group - evenings work best for me :)

The Master and Margarita
by Bulgakov | Buy this book
Dark magical fiction set in the Soviet Union (but with light overtones) - Satan appears as a professor, enters Moscow and wreaks havoc on the sensibilities of the public. There are allegorical references opposing Soviet ideology. The book has scenes which flash back to Pontius Pilate’s involvement with the death of Christ which links the soviet mayhem into the collective conscience of good and evil, and these sections really add to the drama!

⚠️ it's a very dark read but the best I have read in a long time. A love story with extreme form of abuse, slavery and graphic murders.

It's a heart breaking-ly honest take on infatuation and young love, done in a retelling of the Trojan War. Patroclus's perspective brings all of the emotions, and each page will make you want to carry on reading, until you've finished the book in one sitting...
