Gail (Taunton)

I am 67 and still an avid reader, of all kinds of books, including non-fiction. Have just discovered Fitzcorraldo publishers who do translations and read a wonderful French book. But I will read anything, including science fiction, fantasy, poetry and eco stories.

Claus (Weston-super-Mare)

I am new to reading. It is not that I have nerver read a book! But never was a passion until recently, when I moved to England (Weston-super-mare) and I found myself reading more. I am discovering nice fiction, non-fiction, biographies, philosophy, etc. books. The only books I have not tried, and I think I may not enjoy are fantasy books, but please do not judge for that. I know many people love those type of books and movies, but is not something I enjoy. I am interested in finding a book club, where we can meet to discuss about a specific book, make friends, enjoy some tea and a nice chat.

Claus recommends:

Siddharta
by Herman Hesse | Buy this book
I love the fact that it made me think deeply about how other people see their existence.

CaitlynB (Glastonbury)

I’m 24 and currently living in Glastonbury. The books I read go from classics to typical beach reads. Meeting up around crisps, wine or cupcakes to talk about these would be great.

CaitlynB recommends:

You Could Be so Pretty by Holly Bourne
You Could Be so Pretty
by Holly Bourne | Buy this book
It’s a YA dystopia that makes you reflect on social norms around beauty standards for women. Bourne creates an engaging plot while also commenting on the social pressures put on women to appear a certain way to men, other women and even to people in their close circles.

KateC (Street)

I used to love English Literature at school, it would have been my degree but my terrible A-Level tutor put me off. As an adult, I have returned to reading classic novels for pleasure, but also enjoy anything with a good story and well developed characters.
