Sarah (Frome)

I'm an enthusiastic reader, almost 60. I like comic romance, especially historical, most historical fiction with a female perspective, and quirky off-beat books like Lessons in Chemistry. All time favourite author has to be Jane Austen. Also happy to read 20th century and older books. The best bit about reading is sharing thoughts on the book and the insights in it that resonate today.

Sarah recommends:

A Terrible Kindness by Jo Browning Wroe
A Terrible Kindness

The story unravels in an unusual way which keeps the reader guessing, but also the dramatic heart of it is a story of a known incident from a different perspective, beautifully told.

uphill book circle (Weston-super-Mare)

Hello, I have recently moved to the area and wanted a space where I could meet new people of all different ages and really get to know people whilst discussing a passion i’ve had from a very young age. I struggled to get into book clubs as i feel like it’s bracketed to a certain age or background. I want it to be inclusive to everyone and really build a community. please email me for any enquiries and if your too scared to join on your own bring a friend !! email address: uphillbookcircle@outlook.com

Early 20's. Always on the look out for new book recommendations! I love most genres, from crime and horror to cozy romance novels. Already a member of a book club in my old town, however now I've moved I'd like to find another group closer to home.

I'm 18, I adore Romantasy, dark romance, anything that I can really use as an escape from reality. I'm wanting to join a book group just to make new friends that have the same interests as me, and to share my love and opinions for some fan favourite novels. I'm a homebody so I don't really enjoy leaving the comfort of my house, so I wouldn't really be meeting up a lot, though I could for the right people. I am excited to join this wonderful community!

David (Frome)

Have recently moved to Frome, and am missing the book club I belonged to at my previous home. We were a group of about 6 who met in one of a few pubs every month or so and read a varied selection of books…because we met rarely we read 2 books per meet, and tried to make one non-fiction and the other fiction from any era or genre. We tried to avoid ”airport-type” books though!

I'm in my early 30s and trying to rekindle my love for reading - mainly fiction of all sorts! I've recently enjoyed reading Lady Audley's Secret and Evelina. I'm a Sophie Kinsella fan and also enjoy young adult and romance books. It would be nice to make female friends of a similar age who have shared interests and would enjoy meeting up for coffee & cake and sharing book recommendations :)

I’m an avid reader from the classics, biographies etc, to holiday fiction - I don’t enjoy Sci-fi but like most everything else. Looking to meet up with other bookworms who enjoy a good yarn.

Beautifully written, painting gentle pictures of life with carefully crafted words and sensitive depictions of food, it’s like a little jewel box.

Hazel (Dulverton)

Hello I have just moved to Dulverton from Dorset and would love to connect with a local book club. I enjoy many genres of books - mainly fiction although I am interested in memoir. A very long time ago I did a degree in English literature and spent many years working as a teacher of English and Special Educational Needs. I now work part time as a counsellor. When I eventually unpack all my boxes of books I look forward to adding my recommendation!

Newtohere (Yeovil)

I have just moved to Sherborne and I’m looking for a bookgroup. I belonged to one for almost 25 years and it was great because we had wide ranging tastes and it meant I read books that I would never have otherwise read. Some of my favourite authors are Margaret Attwood, Donna Taart, Margaret Drabble and the classics. I can meet either during the day or evenings.
