I like a variety of authors including international (especially Russian and Argentinean but open to new horizons!). Would love to meet up to talk about books, reading and writing. Other interests, dance, yoga, painting, walking - swimming when I can get the courage up!

This was book about a “distressed gentlewoman” who writes a book for money and is then taken aback by the results was written in the 1930’s. The author is an astute observer of people and manners with a very light touch. It is very funny and I love the period detail as well as the humour.

Apart from enjoying the authors style, (crisp, sharp and precise), I think he conjures up the atmosphere of the period and location very effectively. It is the kind of book that allows you to lose yourself in the story and characters so that you don't consciously think about what you are reading you just feel immersed in the plot.
