Very intense and thought provoking book. Barbara Kingsolver cleverly updates Charles Dickens classic David Copperfield and her modern social criticism echos the same issues raised by Dickens. Her hard hitting account of the opioid epidemic in the Appalachia and its impact on the main character Damon Fields, nicknamed Demon Copperhead, is often shocking and heart breaking Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down.

I am a lover of all thinks 'books'. I am an avid reader and enjoy many different genres - recently I have read books such as: Lonesome Dove, Hamnet, The Gathering, Cuddy and The Turn of the Screw. I am an English Teacher but I'm currently working as a Support Practitioner in Weston College. All of my spare time is spend reading, visiting books shops and Libraries as well as looking for anything book related: book ends, signs and even book marks. I'm hoping to find a book club with like minded people in an informal environment that preferably involves a place surrounded by books.
