Silent Book Club Chichester is a relaxed and pressure-free environment for readers to enjoy their books together without the need for assigned readings or discussions. For the first half hour chat and share what you're reading, grab a drink, then commit to an hour of uninterrupted reading. Socialize for the last half hour if you choose. There's no obligation to engage in conversation, just enjoy the quiet camaraderie if you prefer. Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month from 2 to 4 pm at Robin's Nest Coffee Shop, 5 Baffin Court, PO19 1UA. First meeting Wednesday 4 March 2026.

Annette (Chichester)

I’m a retired teacher and a lifelong book lover — a self-confessed bookaholic who usually has at least one fiction and one non-fiction book on the go. I’m an introvert and neurodivergent, and I really value quiet, low-pressure spaces where people can just enjoy being themselves. I’m exploring the idea of starting a Silent Book Club in Chichester. The idea is simple: bring your own book, read quietly together for a while, and chat afterwards only if you feel like it. There’s no set reading, no pressure to talk, and no “book club homework”. It’s very much aimed at people who love reading but don’t always enjoy traditional book groups — especially introverts, neurodivergent readers, and anyone who likes calm, companionable silence.

Hildy (Chichester)

I mostly read romance and love stories with strong chemistry and emotional depth. I’m also into dark romance sometimes, especially books with complex characters. I’d be happy to meet up about once a month. I’m open to making friends through the group and having easy, fun conversations about books. I’d love to get recommendations, share favourites, and also try books I might not usually pick for myself.

GothictrooperEm (Littlehampton)

The last couple of years I've really got into reading again after years of not knowing what to read. I've finally found my favourite genre, gothic horror and thrillers. I am open to other genres but really love the horror side. I'm looking for a horror book club near me.

Brilliant description of body horror left me squirming. It's a brilliant horror about survival and filled me with dread!

Colin (Chichester)

Lover of literature, whether it be classics, thrillers, crime, science fiction, biography, history... Avid listener of the Backlisted podcast. Not so good at meeting people in the wild (socially pretty anxious), so hoping a mutual love of books might build bridges.
