Jenny (Worthing)

Iā€™ve always loved reading and currently love getting myself lost in fantasy/romantasy series e.g. ACOTAR, Fourth Wing. Would love to be able to discuss with people! Another big part of me which takes up most of my time is being a working mum.

A wonderful winter read, this book is a beautiful, lyrically written story set in a fantasy version of medieval Russia. It is a truly magical book.

PJ (Crawley)

I like quite a varied list of genres from romance, action, fantasy, futuristic / space. Not sure Iā€™m a classics type of person because the old English language I find really difficult to read and understand. Mainly I want to get out more and interact with people and I enjoy books so I thought this could be a good fit. Never done it before so nervous and shy.

It takes a little while to get into the first book of any series, but once you get used to the character names and their personalities you fall in love with the book and canā€™t put it down. I love the escapism with this book. Itā€™s quirky and interesting and believable in a very fantasy kind of way. The detailed descriptions are great but not over done so itā€™s easy to read and focus on the story. I definitely got emotionally invested reading this series of books.

Sarah (Haywards Heath)

I have recently changed job, my daughter has left for uni and I have time to read again. I moved to Haywards Heath two years ago so would also like to meet new people who enjoy reading. I like historical novels, magic realism, and nothing too blood thirsty or graphic. Recently read Anthony Doerr's Cloud Cuckoo Land and just loved it.

Sarah recommends:

It is several stories interwoven, set in different times and places, but all connected by the Diogenes story of cloud cuckoo land. That's the best explanation I can give.. it is beautifully written and enchanting.

Beverley (East Grinstead)

I am retired and am an avid book reader. Iā€™ve been in a book club before and I like that it got me to read things that I would never have chosen, many of which I loved. I moved to the area last year and would like to join another club and meet book lovers like me.

Beverley recommends:

Marie (Worthing)

I'm a busy person with a childish sense of fun and enjoyment of life. I love being outside and walking with my partner and our dog. I live near the sea and enjoy swimming all year round. I'm happiest when I'm being active and I try to do yoga daily and some sort of dance based or cardio class.

It's a beautifully written book about an average Englishman and the way she writes makes you feel like you are in India too. It's not very long so won't take ages to read.

Marie (Worthing)

I've loved reading since I was a child, I used to disappear into The Famous Five, Malory Towers and The Secret Seven books, leaving the real world behind. I've always loved the escapism and total immersion I feel when reading. As a teenager I was often laid up with glandular fever and used to read my Granny's Mills & Boon books, often a book a day (now I know where I got my ridiculous younger ideals of love and romance!?) I've spent the last decade or so reading a lot of crime novels and love Jo Nesbo, Peter James, Michael Connolly, Val McDermid etc. However my mother-in-law is a book addict and short story author and has introduced me to a variety of books and authors and I've loved reading something new but wish I had a gang of like minded bookworms to discuss it with.

Iā€™m 26 , recently got back into reading and really enjoy it . I would love to meet people with similar interests. Iā€™m looking for a new hobby so thought I would start with a book club. Iā€™ve never been to a book club before, so a little nervous . I enjoy reading thrillers and romance novels but open to trying different genres. The most recent book I enjoyed reading was ā€œThe housemaidā€ by Freida McFadden.
