bookworm780 (Worthing)

I enjoy reading about anything and everything, I've dabbled in non-fiction such as economics, health and fitness, nutrition and pension planning. I have also become very fond with classics (Dostoyevsky, Dickens, Conan-Doyle), but also enjoy general fiction, horror and fantasy styled books. I want to join a book club to find new recommendations, share my passion for reading and to gain friends.

bookworm780 recommends:

Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

It is the best book I have read, it's perfect in the way it shows guilt and shame as well as the importance of relationships with family and friends. It is a long book but the length is worth the quality of detail for each event that transpires. I will re-read this book again and again

Part of a trilogy following the nursing journey of the author during the first World War. A rare personal look at that era that reads like a beautiful novel rather than a boring old history book. Really gave me an insight into the lives of my grand parents and great grandparents.

Jamela (Horsham)

I love a good read. My taste can be quite eclectic. I have read Eleanor Oliphant and have enjoyed a whole collection of books by John Boyne. I have recently discovered Paul Murray - A bee Sting. I would love to meet and discuss good books as well as getting some good recommendations. I also enjoy chatting !

I love reading and am looking to make some bookish friends. I read a lot of fantasy in my teenage years and transitioned into magical realism and standard fiction as an adult but will give anything a go!

Claire (Horsham)

I have always loved reading but have recently renewed my passion. I am a busy mum (to a teenager and toddlers!) in my late 30s. I love to use any free time I get to escape into a good book. I really enjoy a good psychological thriller. But my particular love is a thought provoking and emotional read (one of my favourites is A Little Life, Hanya Yanagihara). Would love recommendations and discussions.

Catherine (Horsham)

I used to read a lot as a child but as I grew up ‘life’ often meant that I was too busy or too tired to pick up a book. I’m now in my 40’s and have just worked through the hardest few years of my life. My escapism when everything felt too much - Reading! The light has been restored! and I now feel confident enough to try and share this love of books with other likeminded people. I love book browsing just as much as I love reading and I can often be found browsing bookshops, charity shops, Amazon, Goodreads, instagram … anywhere where I might come across a hidden jewel that I just have to add to my TBR list! Enjoy most genres although I tend to avoid fantasy as it’s not really my cup of tea. Saying that, there are always exceptions. ☺️

cover2cover (Horsham)

I love to read, and I have been in a couple of book clubs in the past couple of years of different sizes. Sadly most of them have fallen to the wayside now as all the members have moved around geographically and we are just all a bit too far apart. I am looking to join (or start if there’s others who have a similar idea) a book club in the local Horsham area to meet people who are equally passionate about reading. I really want an opportunity to make more friends who share this passion, as I feel it is an absence in my life currently. I would really just love to be able to get together on a monthly basis (or fortnightly depending on availability) to discuss books and get to share recommendations and literary interests with people who feel similarly to me.

A darker shade of magic by V. E. Schwab
A darker shade of magic
by V. E. Schwab | Buy this book
It’s the first of a fantasy series which explores parallel universe worlds where magic has a variety of expressions and impacts. Red London, Grey London, White London and Black London. Through a small group of characters the book explores this world of magic in such a visceral and exciting way, and the series only gets better with each book. For anyone who loves fantasy and magical realms, this is the book for you!
