Dabble with fact or fiction. The kind of books you just can put down and then you have to just shout about it to someone.

Always enjoyed reading. The humble series of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid stoked my passion for it, now I’m sitting with thoughts unsaid after finishing the Kite Runner. I work in retail, so it can be quite mind numbingly boring hence, I want to find more people to share and learn of emotions invoked by reading.

The terminology employed is deep yet not medical garbolium so as an average reader the story told by the author is still understood despite the heavy medical undertone of the book.

There's no obligation to engage in conversation, just enjoy the quiet camaraderie if you prefer. Meeting on the first Wednesday of the month from 2 to 4 pm and starting September 2026 on the third Wednesday of the month from 6-8 pm at Robin's Nest Coffee Shop, 5 Baffin Court, PO19 1UA.

I really felt a strong connection with the main character and her story, as well as the historical context surrounding the book; I'm personally very drawn to historical SAGAs, particularly those set in this period (Victorian and Edwardian eras). I couldn't put this book down easily, and was always drawn to what would come next, would strongly recommend a read.

I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, so I have been thinking of joining a local book club since moving to West Sussex in 2020, but I couldn't find one. I'd be happy to meet new people and occasionally gather to chat over a cup of tea in a local pub or cafe. With my son off to uni this year, it feels like the right time to make another effort in this direction. Regarding my preferences, I like reading historical fiction, thrillers, dramas, and detectives. I often alternate fiction with nonfiction, preferring books about history. Lastly, English isn't my first language in case it's important to someone, but I haven't had problems communicating with others so far.

I don't read a huge amount at the moment, partly because (as a lawyer) I spend a lot of my working day reading, but also because it's much more enjoyable to hear other people's perspectives on books. I'd also like to join a book club to expand my firendship group. I'm based in Southwater but coming to meetings in Horsham would be no problem.

We ga=have recently started a book group in Worthing that meets about once every four weeks. Our next book in The Calculation of Volume by Solvej Balle. It's not a maths text book but a thoughtful novel about a woman who gets stuck in the 18th November. A sort of Groundhog Day, but more thoughtful. We are nest meeting on Monday 13th April at 7 pm.

This is a fascinating account of a woman who is stuck in time. Tara wakes up one morning to find that she is reliving the same day, the 18th Novelber to be exact. A gripping account about how we iive our lives and what we take for granted. It's a bit scifi, a bit philosophy and beautifully written.
