I want to join a book club so I have other people to talk about books with! I don’t really go into depth with reviews but I love a good chat and to hear other peoples point of views! I read mainly YA, fantasy and romance but up to reading anything! I’m a little introverted but would love to make some like minded friends

Jan (Cheadle)

I’m 62 and since stopping work 4 years ago I now carry out a couple of volunteering roles. I have read many genres over the years but now I only tend to read crime / detective series. Wanting to expand and probably need the encouragement and motivation to include other genres. Looking to join like minded people who also enjoy books

Dorothy D (Warrington)

I’ve just started reading again after a few years in a book slump - really enjoying it - set a goal of 20 books in 2024 and have already surpassed this. Love literary fiction, historical fiction, the odd romance and classic and have read some fantasy novels this year which o don’t think I’d enjoy but I have. I love talking about books, listening to others views on books I’ve read and on new books that I haven’t.

Hi, I'm looking to meet up and talk about books. I've always loved all things fantasy, occasionally some sci-fi, thrillers and easy holiday reads. I'm happy to discuss any books though, even classics :) -Yas

Part one of a trilogy Renegade and Kingdom. They take you through the journey of Robert the Bruce following closely with a few adaptation of his rise to power and the fight with the English. I was gripped from the moment I turned the first page.

Joshua (Holmes Chapel)

I'm an eccentric reader and writer, and I'm looking to gain a foothold in the area once I move in shortly. I'm interested in all kinds of books, but especially science fiction, fantasy, and mythology, with a particular preference towards stories about LGBT+ and disabled experiences. My autistic special interest is the books of the late Sir Terry Pratchett, so I especially enjoy talking about those.

Joshua recommends:

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett
Small Gods
by Terry Pratchett | Buy this book
A hilarious and deeply poignant exploration of what it means to have faith (or not) and of the systems we build around them. The basic premise is that the Great God Om accidentally turns into a tortoise and can't change back so he and novice priest Brutha go on a grand journey to figure out what happened, and chaos ensues.

Ian (Wilmslow)

Hi, I’m Ian and I live on my own which causes some loneliness issues so I want to get out and meet like minded people who love to read. I’ve always been an avid reader and have a fairly eclectic taste of books to read, from crime novels from such as Michael Connelly and David Baldacci to sheer escapist fun like Kate Atkinson to opinion forming books from such as Mark Levin. So, if you have room for me, I would love to join the Group.

Ian recommends:

Life after Life by Kate Atkinson
Life after Life

This is a complex story involving the life of a particular heroine that combines the difficulties of her life with a delicate, emotional touch and the occasional glimpse of Atkinson’s sardonic sense of humour.
