An Evil Cradling by Brian Keenan

Brian 'makes the emptiness of imprisonment speak' Not the most enjoyable novel I've ever read but definitely the one which has left the greatest and hasn't been equaled in the subsequent decades. I think it should be essential reading on the GCSE syllabus, for English language/literature/politics/psychology and generally an education of life.

Claire T (Northwich)

I have loved books forever. I don't always have time to read as much as I want, and have recently started listening to books when driving, which is a great way to get into a new book. Once I am into the book, I won't be able to put it down. Moving to Northwich in a month, and looking to meet new people in the area whilst indulging in my love of books.

Anne Brandolani (Wilmslow)

I've always loved literature and would enjoy talking to others about books we've read. I think joining a book club would be a way of getting to know authors I haven't read before and it would be a nice, sociable thing to do.

WendyDarling22 (Nantwich)

I used to be an avid reader. The older I get, the harder it is to make time to read but being part of a group might help me to focus on something I used to love. Recently read Platform Seven, The Crimson Petal & The White. Currently, The Widow of the South, Robert Hicks. Love history and sci-fi. Nothing too high brow!

Based on a true story and set in the American Civil War. Beautifully written, the characters on each side, have their reasons. It doesn’t read like historical fiction in the way of Philippa Gregory or Hilary Mantel; this could be a modern love story of people you know well.

Helen.T (Northwich)

Hi there , I’ve lived in Northwich for about 23 years now , I used to be a part of a book group of ‘ school mum ‘ friends but found I couldn’t read quick enough or give enough time to read as life was super busy with 3 small boys . They are young adults now so have more time to read . Would love to join or be a part of a new or existing book group in Northwich . I really enjoyed the interaction with other people & am back into reading now so would really love to meet some new people in my area & share different kinds of books . Am currently reading ‘the best exotic marigold hotel ‘ ( loved the film) after hearing about it on the radio 4 series ‘ A Good Read ‘ which I listen to a lot & get some great recommendations from .
