I think book lovers are usually good conversationalists, and as I'm a bit of an introverted gran, am looking to join a book club. My books for a desert island would be Howl's Moving Castle, Pride and Prejudice and How to Survive on a Desert Island.

I am looking for a book club near Bromley, Petts Wood, Orpington that meets maybe one or twice a month in the evening. My main interest is fiction, but I also read non-fiction books from time to time. The books I liked a lot over the past few years were by Ian McEwan, Margaret Atwood, Ottessa Moshfegg, Laila Slimany, Paul Lynch, Cormack McCarthy, Patricia Highsmith. I would also appreciate the opportunity to meet new people.

I am 69 yrs, recently moved back to Kent, I have always loved reading, go through stages of reading for a period of time, then stop, then pick up again, I am finding recently I pick books that sound interesting but once I start reading they aren’t so much anymore, I have also picked books that are ‘easy reading’ but I think my tastes is changing, I would like to know from other readers books they find interesting and can recommend, I am open to giving any type of book a try!
