Riya (Reading)

Hello! I'm 24 and live in Reading. I haven't finished a book in ages and would love to get into reading. These days, I lean more toward Christian and Catholic content. However, I also enjoy reading about history and adventure, such as The Secret Letters of the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari or The Alchemist. I used to read a lot of crime and horror in high school, but now I can't seem to consume scary or crime-related content without having nightmares. Besides history and adventure, I'm keen on reading about science, politics, economics, and sociology. My goal is to join a book club to stay accountable and make reading a habit.

The form of story-telling is engrossing - we follow the main character through a life-changing event that is reflected not only in his experiences, but also the author's style of writing.
Half of A Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Beautiful plot, and very educative. The characters and events envoked such strong feelings for me, and although it is a (very) long read - I completed it in 3 sittings, it's absolutely riveting.

Addy (Reading)

I'm looking to find some people with similar book tastes to me as I'm trying to put myself out there a bit more this year. I read mainly fantasy, romantasy, sci fi and cosy mysteries. I'm not really looking for anything too gritty or deep because I like escapism in my reading!

Addy recommends:

Baking Bad by Kim M Watt
Baking Bad

It doesn't get much cosier than this, and it's one of my favourite genres- people solving murders who have no business solving murders. It's cosy, funny and heartwarming, and involves senior citizens and dragons solving mysteries!

I love this book its such a unique look at masculinity and guilt and redemption. It's about a killer who's served 27 and how he rebuilds his life on the outside its harshly beautiful and I challenge any one not to fall in love with the main characters.

Matt (Reading)

I am happy to read anything! I'm an English teacher so have an open mind when it comes to books. The last books I read have been A Woman's Story by Annie Ernaux, and I’m now part way through The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler. I love books that make me think, laugh out loud, or both, and would love to find like-minded people.
