May (Rickmansworth)
Reading was something I enjoyed in the past, but for various reasons, I haven't been reading as much lately. I would love to reconnect with my favourite pastime again while meeting like-minded people. I love most fiction books except for horror and violence.

john4Rivers (Hertford)
I'm 67, retired and looking for fellow readers to meet to talk about books, to discuss literature in general. I have spent much of my life reading technical stuff and want to broaden my scope to pretty much any area of fiction writing. I live in Hertford and as I'm retired can make just about any time and day.

Reading books is something I have done on and off for a long time, but I’m in need of some motivation to keep me reading. A book club seems ideal for this!

Saskia (Hoddesdon)
Hello all, nice to meet you! I'm 27F. I'm open to reading most genres as long as I find the concept intriguing, but I mostly lean towards horror and science fiction; also, ever since I read The Phone Box at the Edge of the World, I have found I enjoy themes of grief and loss in the stories I read. Some books I would recommend are: I Who Have Never Known Men, Project Hail Mary, American Gods, Like Water for Chocolate, and I'm Glad My Mom Died. If you resonate with any of the books I've mentioned and would like to share something you'd think I'd like, please feel welcome to do so. Have a nice day!

gabriella (Watford)
’m someone who finds deep joy in exploring the world of magic and fantasy, where stories are not just an escape but a way to immerse myself in complex worlds full of imagination and meaning. I’m drawn to narratives with strong psychological depth, where characters are more than just players in the plot but fully realized individuals with layers of complexity. I love stories where I can truly go on a journey with these characters, seeing their growth, struggles, and triumphs unfold in a way that feels real and impactful. Books with well-thought-out characters, whether they’re navigating magical realms or dealing with psychological challenges, resonate with me because they feel authentic and give me the space to reflect on human nature. I appreciate when authors take the time to develop personalities that stay with you long after you’ve finished the last page. I'm excited to join a book group because I love discussing these intricate stories with others who appreciate them as much as I do. Sharing perspectives, learning how others view certain characters or themes, and getting introduced to books I might not have found on my own are all things I’m looking forward to. There’s something special about connecting with people over the stories we love.

I’m 17 and have loved reading forever, especially political and psychological books, such as anything by Marquez. I also find connecting over books is a great way to understand new perspectives and make friends, and so would love to do it more

I'm conscious that I've got out of the habit of reading, which I used to love. I want to rediscover that love but in a more thoughtful way. I've never been in a book club before, but think the right books and the right people are just what I need.
