Ken (Hemel Hempstead)

62 years old, had been attending a central London book group near my place of work for 10 years until a change to a job in Hemel made it impractical (though I do still follow their choices). Though the group's choices have touched on the crime & sci-fi genres, they have largely centered on modern general fiction with the occasional 19th / 20th century classic. I live in the Grovehill area of Hemel, and as I have to rely on public transport, any meetings would ideally be in the Hemel Town Centre area, or nearby.

Kiss Club (Keep It Sassy & Steamy) (Hemel Hempstead)

Ideally looking for people willing to meet up at least once per month in person, but we can start off online as well. We'll choose a book per month then meet and discuss. We would mix it up a bit to cover multiple subgenres. Looking to engage with book lovers who would also be committed to fun book ideas such as blind date with a book etc. I am located in Boxmoor.

It's rare that I find that MM genre romance set in an ancient world time-frame. I enjoyed the slow burn, the character development, the time period and how appropriate the language and plot are to the time period.

Awesome graphic novels that are tender and sweet. Just leaves you with a big smile. Graphic novels aren't usually my thing but I enjoyed these.

I am an avid reader or romance books across subgenres. I mostly read romance books especially LGBT romance and have published over 20 titles. Looking to meet like-minded people who enjoy talking about books. Usually I host a book club once a month on Discord but most of the members were in the US so since moving here the time difference made it impossible to continue. I'd like to re-start a book club where we can explore romance books across all subgenres, dark romance, fantasy, YA, LGBTQ+, space opera, sci-fi etc.

I love how this book tackles quite difficult subject matters with as much honesty and acceptance as possible. Ozeki is able to go so incredibly far to the edge that it feels like there is no hope left, to then save you, trying to bring back some comfort. I especially enjoyed the leaning into some magical realism elements towards the end and how she plays with time and space.

Hamnet

O'Farrell uses the historical facts of Shakespeare's life to compassionately explore themes of grief and the passing of a child. Her writing is so captivating that it easily flows you through the text, even holding your hand and the hardest of times. I recently read her memoir and can see how her own experiences with poor health have massively impacted the way she views human life, this insight really adds to her storytelling.
