Rachael (Hemel Hempstead)
Looking to carve out some me time with some like minded people. Working full time and having a young family, I'd like to enjoy a cup of tea / coffee with fellow book lovers discussing their favourite books and what they're reading now. Would an hour or 2 a month work for most?

I’m a Berkhamsted local with a young family. I enjoy a range of fiction-from thriller and crime through to Booker nominees. I’m interested in meeting people to discuss books over a drink/coffee.

Hi team! I'm not looking to join a club as such - I'm an author based in Berkhamsted Hertfordshire and I've attended a number of book clubs and WI groups (including by Zoom during the pandemic) to talk about my novels and also in some cases the writing process. I think they have been very well received - the book clubs in particular as they have loved getting insights directly from the author. My first novel is historical fiction -the protagonist being a 19 year old girl working in a parachute factory in 1941 - she works in a secret section but carries secrets of her own. I think the book clubs enjoyed this in particular because it explores women working during the war and the whole environment of war-torn Britain. My second novel which is published this month (December 2023) also has a female protagonist - a professor who makes a shocking discovery, making humankind question its place in the universe and bringing her global fame -but she doesn't want it? She has a dark and tragic secret which she must keep hidden. I think the book clubs will enjoy a discussion not only about how the protagonist reacts but how humankind reacts to her discovery. Anyway -I am happy to travel across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire and at no charge as I love talking about the stories and how they come to be written and answering probing questions from enthusiastic readers! Let me know. The two books are: a) The Girl who sewed parachutes. b) The Short Life of Amy Ridley. Kind regards Chris Baker

I want to meet new people and find my love of reading again. I like science fiction. Drama. Probably not horror though. I'm 40, 2 kids, in need of doing things for myself again.
