Aaron (Braintree)

Hi! I’m 28 and love reading a bit of everything — from classics to thrillers to fantasy. I’m open-minded with genres and really enjoy hearing other people’s thoughts on what they’re reading. There’s something great about seeing someone talk about a book they love. I’m looking for friendly, relaxed people to chat about books, share recommendations, and enjoy good conversations. Age isn’t a factor for me — I’m happy to connect with anyone who enjoys reading.

Hi I'm 29 just moved to the area and was hoping to meet people from the area and find some great books to read in the process ☺️ I love reading all sorts of books but my go to tends to be romance or spicy books!

Hannah-Lee (Braintree)

Hi, my name is Hannah, and I’m a 20yo with a passion for books! Reading has been a form of escapism for me throughout both mental and physical health issues, so I’d love to make friends with a like-minded individual. I enjoy pretty much every genre, but I have a keen interest in lit fiction, fantasy, mythology retellings, and horror, however, I am trying to read more classics and non-fiction. Would love to talk, buddy read, and find new recommendations! Occasional meet-ups would be fine, but as I can’t drive and have health issues, I’d need to plan ahead. Online book club and/or online chats would be ideal. <3

Rayleigh Vineyard Book Club (Rayleigh)

We meet at 8pm on the second Sunday of each month in Rayleigh. Informal, friendly, and we don't mind if you haven't read the book or didn't finish it. We vote on the next book, and take turns to lead, so it's very democratic.

SunnyAnnie (Rayleigh)

I lead a fun and informal book club in Rayleigh and we're looking for new members.

The Boy on the Bridge by MR Carey
The Boy on the Bridge
by MR Carey | Buy this book
It's the prequel to The Girl with all the Gifts but it's best to read TGWATG first, as there are some delicious Easter eggs in this one, and it does a great job of answering questions and world building, all around beautiful relationships and fully realised complex characters. A real gut-punch of a book.

Chris (Braintree)

Hi, I’ve been retired for a while, into my garden, friendship groups, choirs and travelling. Spend much of my spare time reading. Love all genres apart from sci-fi, great fan of Philippa Gregory and Robert Harris. Just read the Spartacus trilogy by Jay Penner, wonderfully descriptive and evocative.

Nicole Obi (Basildon)

Hi, I’m Nicole – I’m 18 and currently on a journey of self-growth, exploring new passions, and creating a life that feels meaningful and exciting. Lately, I’ve been trying to romanticize the little things and focus on becoming the best version of myself – and reading has become a big part of that. I want to join a book club because I love getting lost in a good story, especially romance. There’s something about the emotions, the characters, and the twists that just pull me in. But I’m also open to exploring different genres and discovering books I wouldn’t normally pick up on my own. More than anything, I’m looking forward to sharing thoughts, hearing different perspectives, and connecting with others through books.
