Tracy (Basildon)

I hope that you are all keeping well. I am just posting this to say that i have read through several of your comments and I can see that there are many of us who would like to join a Basildon Book group. Carly (Witham (Essex))

Hi I'm Carly, a 41 year old that has recently found a love of reading again. I've been reading thrillers and my favourite authors are freida McFadden and Lisa jewell. I moved to Witham from Halstead in that dreaded year (2020) but due to being disabled and finding it hard to get out I haven't made many friends in the area. I would love to meet new people to chat to about books and other things and maybe discover a new author or two

Carly recommends:

The witchfinders sister
by Beth Underwood | Buy this book
It a book about Mathew Hopkins, told from the point of view of his fictional sister Alice. Although the book is fictional the author clearly spent a long time researching as it is full of facts. It is set in manningtree mostly but you visit lots of different places with the characters.

Lana (Hornchurch)

From childhood I've always been an avid reader, my favourites ranging from The Secret Garden to the entire Rick Riordan universe. I went on to study English at Sixth Form, and I still love reading for fun. I want to expand my reading genres, and expand my social circle to people who also enjoy reading for fun but also reading to ignite thoughts and debates!

I’m a 29-year-old originally from Argentina, now living in Essex, and I’m looking to join a book club to connect with fellow readers and share my love of stories. Reading has always been one of my favorite ways to unwind and explore different worlds, especially through romance, dark romance, and thrillers. I’d love to be part of a group where we can have thoughtful discussions, exchange recommendations, and enjoy discovering new authors and perspectives together.

Pratham (Colchester)

Hi, I’m currently studying FinTech at the University of Essex and living in Colchester. I’ve recently started reading more consistently and have really begun to enjoy it. I’m especially interested in psychology, fiction, and books that make you reflect a little deeper. I’m joining to meet like-minded people, discover new books I wouldn’t normally pick up, and have thoughtful but relaxed discussions. I’m open to different genres and looking forward to learning from others’ perspectives.
