Clare (Rochester)

30 Year old Booktok Girlie based near Rochester, Kent. I've been toying with the idea of starting or joining a book club for some time now. I assumed these usually started with a group of friends but my friends aren't big readers so hasn't really worked out. Would love some help in setting up for Women in their 20s, 30s, 40s etc to enjoy a nice glass of wine and chat about some great new reads. My typical genre would be Romance, Thrillers & a little bit of Fantasy but open to all :) https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/148138770-clare-murphy

I’ve always loved reading and my TBR list is very long; however, I’ve been going through a non-reading period for a few months now and I think joining a book club would help me get back into reading.

Bookgal85 recommends:

Unpopular opinion but I preferred this book to the first - obviously you do need to have read The Handmaid’s Tale for The Testaments to make sense, and even better if you’ve seen the TV series after the first book, as an in-between filling.
Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart

Gritty realism with a backdrop of 1980s Glasgow, this book tells the story of family dramas and the inner torment of a young boy growing up in chaos.

A young female assassin called Celaena Sardothien, she attempts to win her freedom back and accidentally makes friends along the way but there are many secrets in her past she can’t ignore. The best fantasy series I’ve read, amazing character development and world building as well as a thrilling story and lots of intense battles!
Divine Rivals by Rebecca ross

Two unlikely friends write to each other with the help of their magical typewriters in a time of war. A mixture of fantasy and world war 1, this was an interesting read and I was immediately immersed in the world and its lore I fell in love with Iris and Roman!
