I will be looking after my baby granddaughter in Tunbridge Wells for three days a week January-May and would like to meet people while I am there rather than just sitting around doing nothing in the evenings. I am a member of a lively book group in Richmond, where I live for the rest of the week, and would like to find something similar in TW.

I read literary fiction, mostly modern, and can provide a list of books read in the last coupla years if you are interested to see the sort of things I choose. Been in a club before a few years ago but it became claustrophobic and have been unable to find another since then.

I LOVE reading but sometimes I need a push. Having studied literature avidly at school and then at universities I love discussing books and finding hidden themes or new perspectives of classics and well-loved reads that help me fall in love with it all over again. My favourite authors are Wilbur Smith and Garth Nix with Dracula being my go-to favourite book of all time. I would love to find a local book club in Ashford, or if anyone is interested, I used to run one at university so happy to start one up!

Set mainly in Africa you follow the journey of Centaine - a young woman left to survive in the wilderness of Africa after a freak shipping accident during the first world war.
