Hello! I recently moved to the area and looking to meet some new friends. I'm in my mid-30's and enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks. My go to genres are romance, cozy crime, period dramas and comedy, but I'm also interested in exploring new genres.

Hilarious, relatable, makes you smile and laugh. A comfortable read, it's a hug in a book and the writing makes you feel like your on Nells journey with her.

Harry (Epping)

I used to love reading as a teenager, and now that I’m older, I’m hoping to reconnect with that passion. I enjoy classics, crime fiction, a bit of history and politics. I’d love to join a book club — even if it’s just a casual virtual meet-up once a week — to share thoughts, stay motivated, and vote on what to read next.

Prem (Chelmsford)

I am interested in reading thrillers, self help and social/philosophical books. I would like to join a group that I can share my interest and love of reading which I have not had sufficient time for whilst raising my family and working but now have - so would like to meet new people who are like-minded.

Jen (Laindon)

I am 40 years old and a big reader, I studied writing at uni and still dabble a bit when I can find the time. I read every day and enjoy many different genres, from Haruki Murakami to Stephen King. I would like to join a book club to have discussions with people who also love books and hopefully make some friends locally.

Itra (Woodford Green)

I’m an avid book lover who’s always ready to get lost in a captivating story. Some of my all-time favorites include The Alchemist for its timeless wisdom, The Book Thief for its haunting beauty, and The Nightingale for its emotional depth. I’m also a big fan of page-turning thrillers by Riley Sager and the emotional rollercoasters crafted by Colleen Hoover.

Ryan (Epping)

I am 22 years old and live in the Epping/Theydon/Loughton area. Having not read as much these past few years, I would love to get back into a good book. Mainly into historical, non-fiction and fictional crime stories, but very much open to other genres on my way back into reading. Would love to maybe start a new book club for all tastes of interests with others looking to be part of one too.

Ryan recommends:

Inside Alcatraz: My Time on the Rock by Jim Quillen
Inside Alcatraz: My Time on the Rock
by Jim Quillen | Buy this book
The book presents a very honest, personal experience of being in one of the most notorious prisons in US history. It covers the author's upbringing and then moves into his time at Alcatraz, highlighting how he got there, and what life was really like on the Rock. Highly recommend to any non-fiction reader.

Brenda (Ilford)

Would love to find a local book group that meets once a month in a cosy pub/cafe if possible. Live in Barkingside so Chigwell would work or Wanstead. Love to read psychological thrillers - can't find a local group, hoping to hear from fellow bookworms!

Patricia (Braintree)

I’m a pensioner who is still active. There used to be a book group at the local Braintree library until the Pandemic when it closed. Since then I have spoken to the Librarian who was completely unhelpful. Apparently no book clubs are currently running which is such a shame.
