Harrison (Brentwood)

Hiya, I'm a 23-year-old new to the area who is looking to make friends and discuss books we've read. I generally like fiction (e.g. historical fiction, romance, science fiction etc...) although open to most things really! Looking to meet up once a month or so (flexible), would be very informal I am not a high-brow intellectual haha. I'm super friendly and chilled I promise - very reassuring I know.

A cosy crime mystery novel that really gets into the nitty-gritty of daily life as the residents of a sleepy village try to solve the mystery behind Marsha Boden's disappearance. Perfect for fans of Agatha Christie and soap-opera's such as Emmerdale.

Books Paula (Billericay)

Hi, I enjoy reading most genre's especially murder mysteries and thrillers, romance and fantasies. I would love to meet and make new friends, but do struggle to put myself out there, so am quite lonely and thought a book club maybe would be a good start to try and change things for myself.

Books Paula recommends:

I am currently reading Colder than the grave
by JD Kirk | Buy this book
This is book no.14 of the DCI Logan series and I just love them although they are mainly crime fiction set in and around Highlands but have plenty of Scottish humour splattered in each story, I often find myself laughing out loud too which some people might find a bit odd. I would highly recommend these books to anyone who enjoys a good read. My favourite book of all time I think has to be Flowers in the Attic by Virginia Andrews that book I read many years ago but it sticks with me even now, excellent book.
All of the above

They are all brilliant in their own ways, definitely worth reading.

Author JK Scot (Romford)

I'm the author of 'Beyond the Doors,' by JK Scot. A crime thriller that begins & ends in Blairmore, Argyll. I thought as I write books, it'd be good if I started reading them.

I wrote this saga of a young person leaving his village in Scotland and accidentally stumbling into the unfamiliar morality of gangland, military contractors & intelligence agencies. For a change, the strong female characters in this story aren't the victims. Instead, they're the driving force behind all of the realistic scenes, dialogue and criminal misadventures.
