Nat63

Hi, I am looking to set up a bookclub in L'head that would meet at weekends once a month. I am in my mid 50s and enjoy different genres especially Historical Fiction, Thrillers, Classics, Science Fiction, Dystopia, Non fiction... I am looking to meet with people who share a love of reading. If you are interested please E-mail me at leatherheadbookworms@aol.com and let me know 5 books that you would recommend with a short introduction about yourself. Looking forward to hearing from a few people.

I love this book for the tension that you can feel straight from the beginning. We know right from the start who committed the murder and we will understand why as we read the book. The story takes place somewhere in the bush in South Africa and you feel the heat and experience a suffocating feeling which does not go away throughout the book.
Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison

I loved this sci-fi novel which was written in 1968 but was very much prescient. The story is a cautionary tale of what might happen if our consumption goes unchecked...
Empty cradles by Margaret Humphreys

This is a book which I read decades ago and I still have a vivid memory of it!!! It made me cry and made me mad. Well worth a read!!!
Empire of Pain : The secret story of the Sackler family
by Daniel Radden Keefe | Buy this book
The book to read if you want to understand the story behind the opiod crisis in the US. This is non-fiction that reads like a brilliant thriller!! A real page turner!

I’m a 59 yr old lapsed reader who wants to meet up to re-engage and share in the pleasure of books. I enjoy crime, political intrigue, historical fiction, biography, some fantasy … Characterisation and sense of place is the pull for me - Dickens and the classics are amongst my favourites.
