Ekaterina (Farnham)

I always loved reading; it is my way of unwinding and expanding my imagination, however it can be a very solitary experience at times. I always felt the need to share that passion. I would like to find some likely minded people and hopefully build some good friendships in the future.

I have loved books all my life encompassing a wide variety of genres from thrillers like Stephen King to the wonderful early Monica Dickens autobiographical novels to F Scott Fitzgerald, JD Salinger, Muriel Spark, Herman Raucher etc. I have now retired but find myself needing to socialise and would love to get ideas about what books to read now.

Ros (Dorking)

Hi, I am new to Dorking. I have not been an avid reader except for work - as a jounalist so I do read and write news articles all day- but I am looking to join a book club and start really reading. I am 68, a Scot/Brit but just moved back to UK from San Francisco. Thanks!

IanG (Leatherhead)

I am Surrey based author, who has recently published my first book, and I am looking to see if any book clubs would be interested in reading my book, Thespianage.

IanG recommends:

Thespianage
by Ian Goddard | Learn more and buy
Thespianage is a wonderfully funny adventure that blends amateur theatre with espionage in the most delightfully British way imaginable. Packed with eccentric characters, witty dialogue, backstage chaos and unexpected spy intrigue, it takes readers on a laugh-out-loud journey where missed cues, dramatic egos and international secrets collide. Whether you love comedy, mysteries, or simply enjoy cheering for an underdog, Thespianage delivers plenty of humour, heart and surprising twists that will leave you smiling long after the final curtain falls.

Poppybook1 (Dorking)

I just love to read, novels, biographies, history, poetry, self help and I am not ashamed to say if a book is a particular favourite I will read it again and again. I lost my way with reading for a while but I am back and would love to join a local book club and make new friends.

It is such a feel good book, with hope and how somehow we can impact a life without really knowing how amazing this can be for the person. It is also about what family really means and what happiness means in practice and on a visceral level. It is also written so beautifully, down to earth... not at all sickly sweet and you just end up liking all those that are meant to be liked and actually you pity those that a pain in the backside as sometimes we have all experienced trying to do good but it going wrong. No to mention the moments when you are laughing... because even in the most tense of life moments...even when you can't see it at the time... life is side splittingly funny x

Recently moved to Epsom and looking for a fiction book club/group to join - ideally that meets late on Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon, but can do Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the moment.
