First of a recently completed trilogy about a world where magic societies, schools, institutions operate on both sides of the law. Six people are chosen to study and promised power, wealth among other things but they have to work together for a common goal…the kicker, one must die!

Mon dieu, I love reading these stories! The tension barely lifts thoughtout the nearly 700 pages! Kristoff can write thrillers, fantasy, action, erotica and horror better than anyone I have read! Longue vie ‘la demoiselle du graal!’

Written originally about the greed and politics of the restoration (reflecting the same in 1980s Thatcher years), it is also poignant and humorous

I find the story fascinating and unlike anything else I've ever read. The Faeries are more folky than dark and brooding and definitely dangerous and it's hard to describe, but this book just has great vibes.
