It offers a more deep meaningful insight than other traditional books on what it is like to be a vampire(I would also say life in general).

Amber (Bradford)

I’m a 23 year old mum to a 14 month old boy who works part time in childcare. I love to read during my spare time but often find it hard to find that time. I read on all formats, physical, audiobook and kindle. My favourite genres are romantasy, thrillers and romance. I would love to find some local book friends that I can talk to about the books I read (especially the jaw dropping twists!!) and maybe join a book club :)

Amber recommends:

Bookworm84 (Keighley)

I love to read. A book can transport you into a different world while you’re sat in your living room. It’s a window to the world and I would love to share my love of reading with others. I’d also like to broaden my horizons by branching out to different genres.

Rachel (Leeds)

I'm an early 30's woman looking to get back into reading and discuss my thoughts with other people. I enjoy everything from historical romance to sci-fi, so I'm happy to read anything! I'd like to meet once or twice a month ideally.

Rachel recommends:

Circe by Madeline Miller
Circe
by Madeline Miller | Buy this book
This is a fantastic retelling of greek myths from the point of view of the witch, Circe. I found it gripping as I enjoy myths and historical fiction, but it tells the story of someone who isn't considered a hero, rather a villain!

Owen (Shipley)

Hi, I'm a 23 year old academic (physics) taking a break period after my masters. My degree really killed off my reading habit and I am only just getting back into it. At the moment I am mainly reading some philosophy, but I am open to any work, fiction or non-fiction. I am actively interested to get into new genres and forms of writing. Currently reading: On the Nature of Things - Lucretius

Owen recommends:

Martierobyn (Leeds)

I'm a 24 year old medic on a gap year, which has finally given me some time to get back into reading after a long time off. None of my friends are readers and I have so much to say on the books I'm getting through!! Since I'm still getting back into it I'm coming across mostly popular fiction for now (e.g. I enjoyed Yellowface. I did not enjoy Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow), but I like non-fiction (e.g. Rebel Ideas, Why We Sleep, Taxtopia) too. Would like to read more fantasy, science fiction and thrillers. Currently reading: Shuggie Bain, Douglas Stuart

Martierobyn recommends:

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
Project Hail Mary
by Andy Weir | Buy this book
I never usually read space/science fiction (although I do sometimes enjoy it in shows/movies), but I tried this one on Audible and it was SO good. I'm a STEM girlie so I appreciated the sciency parts of it, but more than that this was such an intriguing read because the reader discovers key parts of the main character's history at the same time as him. The tension is kept high the whole time and the characters, particularly the co-star, absolutely had my heart. This is my first recommendation whenever anyone asks me the question

Troy (Halifax)

Hello, I've just started to take an interest in literature again after spending few years studying, so preoccupied with the dryness of academia. Books that have stood out and remained in my memory from past readings have been strange mix of Herman Hesse, Dostoevsky, Irvine Welsh, and philosophical things. I'm by no means confined to any particular genre, and open to reading new/ unfamiliar areas, and things less intense. It might be good to meet new people, read some things collectively, and talk about books and other topics if and when they come up.
