I love this book for the tension that you can feel straight from the beginning. We know right from the start who committed the murder and we will understand why as we read the book. The story takes place somewhere in the bush in South Africa and you feel the heat and experience a suffocating feeling which does not go away throughout the book.
Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison

I loved this sci-fi novel which was written in 1968 but was very much prescient. The story is a cautionary tale of what might happen if our consumption goes unchecked...
